שאלה:

Hi Dr. Halperin

I am an observant jew who lives in Puerto Rico. I would like to marry within the Jewish nation, but I have two situations.

First I need to reverse a vasectomy. I have been contacting an organization in the USA, known as Bnei Olam to help me pay the cost of the surgery, I also located a jewsih doctor in the Boston area who seems to be a good one in this area.

Second, I have hsv-2, this issue makes my process of shidduchim almost impossible. However, I am more than willing to fix the vasectomy back to its original condition and take medication or find a jew in similar condition. What recommendations could you give me to help me take the right path in this process? if the reversal does not work? what about the risk of a baby getting infected ?

תשובה:

1. The pure medical questions should be reffered to you physician.

2. If the reversal of the vascectomy will fail, you will have to ask a competent Rabbi with whom you may marry.

3. The organization Boney Olam may Help you to reach a competent Rabbi, and to gain access to similar Jewish prospective Shiduchim.
